I originally came across this wine a few years ago in the best Enoteca in Palermo. The winemaker was there doing a tasting with the owner, & convinced me to try some despite me telling him I'm not really a big Shiraz fan. Well I'm glad he did, what a pleasant surprise, Sicilian shiraz is quite different from many of those from elsewhere around the world, often a lot softer and more supple. And this one is often proclaimed as the best example of it in Sicily. Indeed, the 2013 vintage was voted the winner at the International Shiraz Competition, heady heights indeed..!!
Dark ruby red colour with a rich, elegant and charming nose of black cherries in alcohol, roasted coffee, blackcurrant, cocoa and spice. Powerful, velvety and confident in the mouth with an unmistakable personality. Full-bodied, admirable, and with a great balance of tannins, and worthy of cellaring for a couple of years.
So why not treat yourself, and see what top notch Sicilian shiraz is like..!!
