This beautiful, elegant red is a blend made from 60% Nerello Mascalese, 15% Nerello Cappuccio, 15% Nocera & 10% Nero D'Avola, the prince of Sicilian grapes. It ages at least 18 months in barriques & then at least 6 months in bottle. Obli is a wine with a light flavour supported by the freshness of the Nerello Mascalese that in the Faro DOC takes on a different complexity & particular authenticity than when it is grown on its more natural home of Mount Etna. Nocera, (the local grape of the area) gives Obli a brilliant bouquet whilst the Nero D'Avola gives a structure & the "Sicilian nerve" that only Nero D'avola can convey to the wines of Sicily.
An intense & beautiful nose, with aromas of dark fruits like blackberry & black cherry, balanced by delicate spices, cocoa, vanilla & iquorice that dance on the palate. Full-bodied, long & ingering with sweet, succulent & velvety tannins.
Will pair well with grilled red meats, roasts, mushrooms, truffles & hard cheeses.
