Lagnusa is the name of the cru from which the grapes hail. The name has its origins in the vineyard which has always been called “lagnusa” by the farmers of Montoni. In Sicilian, “lagnusa” means that which is lazy and produces small quantities. Today, we know that a vineyard that produces less, creates higher quality.

Ruby red in colour. Its structure does not want to conquer with strength, but with elegance. A complex perfume with notes of fruit and spices, that are in harmony with one another. Aromas of ripe wild berry, baking spice and underbrush lead the nose, whilst the juicy palate offers raspberry jam, star anise and cinnamon alongside polished tannins. It is soft, velvety, sapid and is laced with the right amount of tannin on the palate.

Made from 35 year old vines, grafted from their old Vrucura Nero d’Avola “mother plants" 600 metres above sea level. By grafting in this antique manner, they obtain grapes with a unique and exclusive “DNA” of Feudo Montoni, their sort of copyright of Nature.

Fermentation takes place in cement containers, followed by a further 20 months ageing in cement, 4 months in barrels and finally 4 months in the bottle before release.

Alcohol: 13.50% vol.

Food parings: Red meats, roasts, game, tuna, salumi and aged cheeses.

Service notes: Oxygenate the wine at least one hour before serving
